First of all, I would like to say thank you to all the members
who participated in the shrimp boil and took the time to meet our new greens
supervisor, Mike Mullins and his family. We had a great turnout for this event
and I believe everyone had a wonderful time and should have left with a full
tummy! Tom and Sharon Sommerville did a great job organizing this even so many
thanks to them. If you were not able to make this shrimp boil, watch the
calendar for another one or something similar coming soon.
There are two outside tournaments for the month of August. On Friday, August
8th, WFCC is hosting the ELK Tournament to benefit the Children's Place of
Tuscaloosa. This is a one day tournament with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00
a.m. On Friday, August 22nd, WFCC will be hosting the C.A.P.S. Night Light
Tournament benefiting the Child Abuse Prevention Services. This tournament is a
one day tournament with a shotgun start beginning at 1:00 p.m. The golf course
will be closed on both of these days. Both of these tournaments have spaces
available if any of our memebers would like to get together a team and play.
There are flyers in the Pro Shop. Thank you for your understanding with regard
to these outside tournaments as they generate some much needed income.
As the course continues to improve, this would be a great time to recruit
possible new tournaments to WFCC. Outside tournaments are of vital importance to
our club as the monies generated are much needed most of the time.
